Tiago M. Barbosa holds BSc, MSc, PhD and Habilitation degrees in Sports Sciences.

He is an Assistant-Professor at the Nanayang Technological University (Singapore), Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (Portugal), and Senior Research Fellow at the Research Centre in Sports, Health and Human Development (Portugal).

Tiago Barbosa is serving as Science and Technology consultant for the Portuguese Olympic Committee. In the past served also as Science and Technology consultant for the Portuguese Swimming Federation.

He is an Academic-Editor for the journal Plos One, Editor-in-Chief for the journal Sports Medicine International Open, as well as, the journal Motricidade.

Is author of 11 textbooks, 20 book chapters, more than 230 full peer-review research papers (out of which more than 135 are in journals indexed on the Web of Knowledge or Scopus)

“International Swimming Researcher of the Year 2013” by the International Society of Swimming Coaching (Australia) and “Excellence in Research Award 2017” by NTU-NIE (Singapore) are some of his awards.
